Next week is the kids half term. That means we will be having a special run on Saturday, but you will need to concentrate on this email as there is plenty of potential for this to go horribly wrong.
In overview SLJ runners will be allowed to join us for this run. There will be 3 distances and 3 start points and the run will be one way from Sevenoaks to Westerham and we will end there in one of the coffee shops on the green. We will all be running along the same route, so if you go for the shorter distance you just start further down the route.
OK - Still with me... here is the plan
Meet at point A - Westerham Car Park at 7.40am. We leave as many of our cars there as we can and the a couple of cars drive the rest of us back to Sevenoaks. That is how we can get home at the end of the run.
Point B - 8am Start point is Hollybush Car Park - for the full 8 mile route (distances aprox)
Point C - End of Hopgarden Lane J/W Ashgrove Road, Sevenoaks for 8.15am start for the 7 mile route
HERE is point D- Stubbs Hill car Park ( Goathurst Common) 8.30 am Start for the 4.5 mile route
There will be coaches at each start point, either SLJ or Oaks Blokes ones. Arrive at your chosen distance start point at the allocated time - find a bunch of people similarly dressed to you and follow someone who sounds like they know where they are going (no doubt you will let me know how refreshing it is to find someone who knows where they are for a change!).
How to choose where to start and likely speed.
The Hollybush start group at 8am is aimed at the normal Oaks Blokes Main group. The Oaks Blokes main group run about 1 1/2 - 2 minutes a mile faster that the SLJ main group. There are some good women runners in SLJ but this start is unlikely to be suitable for general mid pack runners with SLJ. All Oaks Blokes main group will be fine with this start point.
Hopgarden Lane Start (Point C) - Suitable for any Oaks Blokes runner even slow ones (with the possible exception of Andy - but you might be ok here not been out with you for a while). This group is aimed at the main bulk of SLJ main group runners. My group should end up running through this group just after they start - so if you want shorter but a bit faster you can just tag on with me as we go by.
Toys Hill Start - Aimed at slower runners and the pace is likely to be really very steady 14 min miling - I suspect Lar's Special Needs group will feel like whippets if you choose this group. Again it is anticipated we may run though this group too - but they will be starting with quite a head start - so they may be almost in Westerham before we meet themThe Run Itself
Once we are past Hopgarden Lane - it is a cracking route. It does have a couple of ups and downs but we have removed one of the hardest from the previous route (for those who have done it before) it is therefore also a mile shorter. Plenty of mixture of terrain woods, fields, churches and much much more - the coffee at the end is very good too.... It will take a bit longer than our usual 6 miles runs so the full run may be close to 1 1/2 hours with stops etc
